Surprised no one has mentioned the gorgeous Dark Star from TDIH 1969. It features a couple of the earliest attempts at both the Feelin' Groovy and Tighten Up Jams. Performed in succession, it's an excellent to chance to compare/contrast these two themes, together and with future performances of two of the more beautiful pieces of music the band performed. Only days later the band would reprise these two jams together in an even more stunning performance on (11/2/69).

This is a stellar Dark Star, among the very best of '69, and perhaps one of the all-time greats as well? Superb sound quality for 1969!

Nice bit of St. Stephen>William Tell>The Eleven there too. The Lovelight fails because Pig's mic wasn't turned up enough, and his rap was too "stock" to my liking.

From the moment I looked at the calendar and noticed it was the 25th, this show has been on my mind. I haven't gotten around to it yet, but my plan is to put on the Dark Star to fall asleep to.

tighten up you say? I may actually take a trip to the "forbidden zone" of pre 1973 shows. Thanks for the heads up on this

I believe Dick listed the 11/2 version as his favorite Dark Star. For a Feelin Groovy-Tighten Up tag team, I personally prefer 1/2/70.

Absolutely my favorite all-time #1 un-beaten champ DARK STAR.

This has it all...jazzy, jamming, great vocals by Jerry6, just a touch of psychedelic madness w/out verring into dissonant cacophany....the Dark Star to end all Dark Stars, IMHO.

Thanks for reminding me to cue this one up today!
